I always find myself trying to work on a new idea or project since spreading yourself out gives you a chance to venture into a new industry or just have another winning idea. The only issue is how many ideas can you handle or fund alone? lately i have been very proactive into letting others take part in some f my projects. for example I have a partner for my soon to be release iphone app. we agreed on 50/50 split for development cost as well as any revenue that comes from it.
today I agreed on the development for a RPG game on facebook, something similiar to mob wars but a different theme. Since i have a few thing sin the works and im car shopping I felt maybe I would see if some of the people close to me would be up for taking part in the idea. I already had lowered the development cost by having the development company take a small revenue share on the game. Not only did this reduce my startup but when the game grows they agreed to free enhancments and support for it. I feel this is fair since they will help me make it profitable so everyone wins in the longrun.
As far as 3rd parties to assist in the funding and growing the app it can be a touchy topic since everyone has a different level of risk. Some people will loan you some money in exchange for a return..like a bank while others what a % of the pie.
I personally do not like to give up control, the bottom line is less control equals less profits BUT to have someone else that has a personal interest can be worth giving up control. The fact is you need to work with others to make it big.
So as of right now I have only planted a seed on my facebook RPG game but we will see who is truly interested.
