FTC wants to Monitor Blogs for Payments and Freebies

By o2smedia | Jun 22, 2009

The FTC wants to crack down on bloggers that receive incentives for writing product reviews or cash incentives. Big name bloggers have been know for receiving laptops or giftcards in exchange for  a good review. he FTC feels that Internet users may not be aware that it would be a bias review and they feel bloggers should disclose this to the readers.  I do see the concern the FTC may have with this BUT it would also be an issue if they start to assume what reviews are real and which are not. I don’t see this being any different then product placement in a movie or even articles written for print.  I feel that at the end of the day if someone is looking for reviews they will compare different sources. Other wise I would have purchase from every infomercial I have ever seen!
